Elk Island Public Schools has a variety of programs to help students explore potential pathways to develops their knowledge, skills, attitudes and values as they work towards life beyond high school. 

VCHS offers a number of career focused programming opportunities coordinated through an onsite staff member. The individual programs can be explored below.

**NEW** Collegiate Pathway

Collegiate Pathways are career-focused education programs designed to provide students with real-world skills and post-secondary opportunities while still in high school. Through hands-on learning, industry partnerships, and dual-credit options, students gain valuable experience, certifications, and a competitive edge for their future careers.

Dual Credit

Through Dual Credit opportunities, students can earn college/university credits from a Post-Secondary institution and high school credits in select programs.  These opportunities are in partnership with Elk Island Public Schools Division, Lakeland College, Portage College, Norquest College, Olds College, and Alberta Education.

Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP)

The Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) provides the opportunity for students to earn senior high school credits and apprenticeship hours toward journeyperson certification.

Green Certificate

The Green Certificate Program provides students with opportunities to enter a variety of agriculture-related, structured learning pathways as a part of their senior high school program and to earn up to 16 Grade 12 diploma credits and a credential leading to a career in agribusiness.

Work Experience

The Work Experience program is a partnership between the school division and local employers that provides students with the opportunity to gain high school credits and experiential learning activities as part of a planned school program under the supervision of an off-campus education coordinator.
